Affordable holidaying with cheap Turkey and Egypt hotels

Posted by traveltips

Holidaymakers from the UK have been looking for alternatives to some of their favourite European destinations this year as budgets have tightened and the Euro currency has gained in strength. Luckily, there are some affordable choices not too far from home in the shape of hotels in Turkey and Egypt. Favourable exchange rates alongside the cheap Turkey and Egypt hotels are proving a desirable combination for holidaymakers considering these two locations just outside the Eurozone.

Travellers wanting to save some cash would do well to head to Turkey on holiday. An enticing blend of low day to day living costs and some fantastic deals on good quality but still cheap Turkey hotels is luring visitors of all types. Turkey has been making a particular name for itself in the holiday charts this winter as a top pick. Its currency has played a big role in it being seen as a best buy location recently. The country still has a number of years to go before it can join the EU and consider swapping its Lira for the Euro. Thanks to an exchange rate of around 2.4 Lira to the Pound, UK visitors can expect a bit more for their cash, particularly compared with some of Turkey’s European neighbours. Discounts and deals on accommodation are another bonus for holidaymakers at the moment. All inclusive hotels in Turkey can be found for as low as £10 per person per night this winter.

Across the water from Turkey, there are more cheap hotels available in the popular North African destination of Egypt. In the cost of living stakes the country follows hot on the heels of Turkey. Meanwhile, deals on all inclusive hotels in Egypt offer further value for holidaymakers who decide to choose the land of the Pharaohs for their next getaway. Two people can enjoy a seven night stay at an all inclusive resort for around £18 per person per night this winter. Whichever destination travellers decide to visit in the end, a trip just outside the Eurozone is an excellent choice for affordable holidaying.

Turkey hotels offer value for money on holiday

Posted by traveltips

Turkey – the land of mystery and promise – offers a diverse blend of attractions, from its inspiring landscapes to its ancient history and culture. Fortunately, UK tourists can enjoy favourable prices at the moment as well, particularly when compared with other European destinations. Having been voted as one of Europe’s ‘best buys’ by various holiday charts throughout 2009, Turkey is proving to be a shrewd choice and this is partly due to its currency. The country still has a number of years before it can join the EU and start thinking about swapping its Lira for the Euro. Until then, visitors can enjoy a favourable return on their money alongside some great deals on Turkey hotels.

Following the changing fortunes of the Pound against the Euro, some travellers were forced to look elsewhere for a good value holiday. Turkey has become a serious contender as an alternative to traditional European destinations, with its favourable exchange rates of around 2.4 Turkish Lira to the Pound. The country benefits from all the advantage of its European neighbours, such as weather, activities and culture, but at a better price when you’re there.

Popular places to spend your new found wealth include the town of Bodrum on the west coast, which offers a heady mix of old fashioned charm and modern sophistication. For a great investment of both time and money, a trip to the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology is well worth a visit. A bit further south, in Antalya, you can see some of the ocean’s treasures for yourself when you take a scuba diving course. The region also benefits from a good supply of high quality cheap Turkey hotels, with all inclusive resorts available for incredible prices. Meanwhile, the Dalaman region is a good choice if you want to save a bit of money by sampling a diverse range of Turkey’s delights all in one place. Again, there are plenty of reasonably priced Turkey hotels on offer, suitable for families, couples or groups of friends.

Of course, there’s no doubt that some of the best things to do in Turkey are free. Whether walking around it’s towns, hiking through its mountains or relaxing on its beaches, Turkey’s most exquisite offerings are in fact priceless.

Lanzarote now even more accessible to holidaymakers

Posted by traveltips

Holidaymakers keen to enjoy Lanzarote’s sun-drenched beaches, relaxed atmosphere and many entertainments will be pleased to hear about the launch of new flights to the island by Aer Lingus this autumn. The brilliant Lanzarote sunshine and mild climate make it an ideal island getaway any time of the year, but perfect if you want to escape the not-so-sunny British seasons. Year-round sunshine, stunning shoreline views and cheap hotels in Lanzarote are now more accessible than ever before, with new flight routes going from Gatwick to Arrecife airport three days a week.

The new route announcement follows news earlier in the year that the Spanish government will be offering discounts on airport taxes to airlines meeting certain criteria when flying to Spanish destinations. This is the government’s latest attempt to boost tourism, both on the mainland and surrounding islands, and there is the hope it will encourage other airlines to introduce new flights to the popular holiday spots. With the credit crunch hitting holidaymakers hard at the end of last year, Lanzarote – like a number of other European destinations – suffered a drop in visitor numbers. Its airport saw a reduction of 3.3% in December 2008 compared with the same time the previous year, which raised concerns about the health of local tourism.

The new route between London and Lanzarote will no doubt be well received. Similarly, it is great news for eager sun-seekers too, as holidaymakers have the chance to enjoy a paradise island break at an affordable price. The prices for the new flights start at an affordable £34.99 one way, making it a great choice for your next holiday in the sun. There are great deals on Lanzarote hotels at the moment, making the holiday even more attractive. A bungalow for two in a four star resort, for example, costs as little as £14 per person per night this October, while all-inclusive hotels in Lanzarote can be found for around £27. One positive thing about the credit cruch, is that it’s driven down holiday prices, making a sunny trip affordable this autumn.
